As the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, we develop and manage the IT infrastructures for the retail divisions Lidl and Kaufland, as well as Schwarz Production and PreZero. Your Tasks

• Guard Global Scale: Design, build, and maintain automated test suites that validate the reliability of production services serving millions of users worldwide.
• Bridge Quality & Speed: Collaborate with backend engineers and ML Scientists to embed automated testing into fast-moving development cycles without slowing down delivery.
• Architect Test Pipelines: Develop and optimize CI/CD-integrated test frameworks that catch regressions early, covering API, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.
• Automate Excellence: Own test automation infrastructure as code, ensuring test environments, data, and pipelines are as robust and repeatable as production deployments.
• Ensure Stability: Implement monitoring for test health and flakiness, keeping our automated quality gates trustworthy and our systems healthy 24/7.
• Champion Quality Culture: Partner with cross-functional teams to define testing strategy, coverage standards, and best practices across the organization.

Your Profile

• Java & Python Craft: You have a solid foundation in Java and/or Python. You care deeply about writing maintainable test code to build reliable automation frameworks.
• Test Automation Tooling: You have hands-on, necessary experience with Selenium and Playwright for UI automation, Postman for API testing, and Gatling for performance and load testing.
• API & Tooling Expertise: You have hands-on experience testing RESTful services (e.g., with JUnit/TestNG, REST Assured, pytest, or similar frameworks), feel at home in a command line/shell environment, and have a strong grasp of Git.
• CI/CD Fluency: You have experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and understand how to design pipelines that fail fast and fail clearly.
• Cloud Native: You have hands-on experience with GCP (or similar) and are familiar with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and testing within event-driven or distributed architectures.
• The Search Mindset: Experience with (or a strong desire to learn) testing search infrastructure like Elasticsearch, including performance and relevance validation.
• Documentation & Detail: You believe that good test coverage is supported by clear documentation and test case design, making it easier for the whole team to trust and extend automation.
• Collaborative Spirit: You enjoy translating ambiguous requirements into concrete test scenarios and thrive in a team where communication is as important as coding.
• Language: Professional fluency in English. German is a nice-to-have, but not required for success in this role.
