As the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, we develop and manage the IT infrastructures for the retail divisions Lidl and Kaufland, as well as Schwarz Production and PreZero. Your Tasks

• Design and Infrastructure: Architect and implement scalable solutions that bring Kubernetes services to our customers, taking ownership of the surrounding infrastructure landscape (compute, networking, storage, and APIs)
• Operations & Problem Solving: Ensure the smooth operation of the service by analyzing complex technical issues, performing thorough root-cause analysis, and implementing lasting solutions
• Security & Compliance: Drive cluster security and compliance, developing robust policies (such as RBAC, Network Policies, and Kyverno) and implementing advanced measures (including Falco, image scanning, and audit logging)
• Operator Development & Automation: Extend and automate the Kubernetes platform by designing and developing custom operators, controllers, and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) in Go, while streamlining platform delivery via GitOps workflows
• Teamwork & Documentation: Partner closely with cross-functional experts and maintain clear, thorough documentation to ensure team alignment and seamless knowledge sharing

Your Profile

• Software Development & Go: Several years of experience in software engineering, with a strong proficiency in Go (Golang) and a proven track record of developing custom Kubernetes operators, controllers, and CRDs
• Platform Architecture & Operations: A "You Build It - You Run It!" mindset backed by hands-on experience operating Linux servers and administering Kubernetes clusters from scratch. You possess a deep understanding of K8s internals, cloud networking, storage, and API design
• Kubernetes Orchestration: Familiarity with ecosystem orchestrators - preferably Gardener or ClusterAPI - to effectively manage and scale multi-cluster environments
• Open Source Collaboration: Experience with or a strong interest in actively contributing to the open-source community, taking ownership of features, and coordinating developments with other community members
• Communication & Languages: Excellent English skills to ensure successful collaboration within our international, agile teams; working knowledge of German is a valuable plus
